TLDR Biotae Orientalis extracts may help treat hair loss.
The study investigated the hair growth effects of acetone and MeOH extracts from Biotae Orientalis on C57BL/6N mice. The extracts showed significant hair growth in 70%, 90%, and 60% of treated skin areas over 16 days. The study also observed changes in the immunoreactive density of VEGF, PKC-α, and SCF, with SCF showing increased staining compared to controls. Additionally, there was a significant increase in splenic TH/TC lymphocytes and thymic T lymphocytes in the MeOH extract group. These findings suggested that Biotae Orientalis extracts could potentially be used for the topical treatment of alopecia areata.
