TLDR Trichoscopy is a quick, non-invasive way to measure hair density and thickness, helping diagnose hair loss.
The study "Evaluation of Hair Density and Hair Diameter in the Adult Egyptian Population using Quantitative Trichoscopic Analysis" aimed to establish normative values for hair density and diameter among adult Egyptians using quantitative trichoscopy. The investigation included 250 male subjects and assessed hair thickness and diameter across four scalp locations. The results showed significant variations in hair density and thickness between the vertex, temporal, and occipital regions. The study concluded that quantitative trichoscopy is a simple, rapid, and painless method for determining hair density, and establishing normal values through this technique is crucial for investigating and managing hair loss in clinical practice.
