Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune disorder with unpredictable outcomes and no current cure, characterized by T cell-mediated attacks on hair follicles. The exact pathogenic mechanism is unclear, but recent research suggests that gut microbiota significantly influences immunoregulation in autoimmune conditions like AA. Fecal microbial transplantation (FMT) is proposed as a potential treatment, though research is still in its early stages. This study aims to advance understanding of the gut microbiota's role in AA, identify early diagnostic biomarkers, and explore FMT as a novel therapy.
