The study investigated manganese-doped calcium silicate nanowire composite hydrogels (MCSA) for treating melanoma and aiding wound healing. These hydrogels demonstrated effective photothermal properties, raising temperatures to 55°C under near-infrared irradiation, which effectively killed tumor cells, reducing melanoma cell viability to 10.6% in vitro. In vivo experiments on Balb/c mice showed significant tumor size reduction and enhanced wound healing, with accelerated new skin formation in diabetic mice. The hydrogels released bioactive ions that promoted endothelial cell proliferation and migration, crucial for tissue regeneration. The study concluded that MCSA hydrogels were promising for dual-functionality in melanoma treatment and post-surgical recovery.
