TLDR Interest in hair loss treatments, especially Minoxidil and Finasteride, has increased globally, with variations by region.

The study analyzed Google Trends data from 2018 to 2023 to assess public interest in alopecia-related treatments. Results showed an increase in search volumes for "hair loss treatment" and "Minoxidil," with oral minoxidil gaining attention since 2021. Interest in "Finasteride" rose in 2021, while "Dutasteride" showed consistent growth. "Hair transplant" searches remained stable. Geographically, interest varied, with Middle Eastern countries and Japan focusing on general hair loss treatments, Latin American and Spanish-speaking countries on oral treatments, and Ireland and the UK on hair transplants. The study concludes that Google Trends reflects temporal and geographical variations in public interest but is limited as an epidemiological tool due to its reliance on internet access.
