TLDR Combining glycyrrhizin and UVB light is most effective for improving vitiligo.
This study investigated the effects of glycyrrhizin, UVB light, and their combination on active-stage generalized vitiligo in 144 patients aged 3 to 48. Patients were divided into three groups: oral glycyrrhizin (OCG), UVB treatment, and a combination of both. After 6 months, repigmentation was observed in 77.1% of the OCG group, 75.0% of the UVB group, and 87.5% of the combination group. The combination therapy was the most effective, improving the disease stage from active to stable, with limited and transient adverse events. Responsiveness varied with lesion location and patient compliance.
