This study investigated the role of lncRNA variants HOTAIR (rs10783618), LINC-ROR (rs1942347), and MALAT1 (rs3200401) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) among 163 patients and matched controls. The HOTAIR rs10783618*C/C genotype was linked to a 77% increased risk of SLE, while the MALAT1 rs3200401*T/T genotype tripled the risk. Conversely, the rs3200401*T/C genotype reduced SLE risk by 49-57%. LINC-ROR rs1942347*A/A was associated with a positive family history of SLE. Specific genotypes were also linked to clinical features such as arthritis, oral ulcers, hair loss, weight loss, and neurological symptoms. These findings suggest that HOTAIR and MALAT1 polymorphisms could serve as molecular markers for SLE susceptibility and severity.
