TLDR The study found key long non-coding RNAs involved in yak hair growth cycles.
The study identified 2884 long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) during the hair follicle (HF) cycle of yaks across five phases and performed differential expression analysis between three phases, revealing 818 differentially expressed lncRNAs (DELs). Functional enrichment analysis indicated that these DELs are involved in critical pathways such as Wnt signaling, VEGF signaling, and stem cell pluripotency regulation. Comparative analysis with cashmere goat lncRNA data identified 24 DELs with varying degrees of sequence conservation, with three selected for detailed conservation analysis. The findings provided insights into the expression patterns and potential functions of lncRNAs in yak HF cycles, contributing to the understanding of lncRNA roles and mechanisms in HF development.
