TLDR Genetic factors in PCOS are complex, with potential influences from the MC4R gene.
This study examined the association between genetic polymorphisms in the CYP19, MC4R, FTO, and INSR genes and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in 50 Polish women (25 with PCOS and 25 healthy controls). The findings showed no statistically significant differences in genotype distribution between the PCOS and control groups for most genes, suggesting these polymorphisms may not be directly linked to PCOS in this population. However, deviations in the MC4R gene suggest potential genetic influences. The study emphasizes the complexity of genetic factors in PCOS and the need for further research with larger sample sizes to better understand these associations.
