TLDR PRP did not significantly improve hair restoration results but improved scar tissue quality.
The study investigated the role of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in enhancing the outcomes of follicular unit extraction (FUE) for non-androgenic alopecia. Twenty-four patients were divided into two groups: one received PRP injections before and after hair transplantation, while the control group did not. Results showed no significant differences between the groups in terms of patient satisfaction, hair survival rate, or evaluations by other surgeons. However, PRP improved the texture and quality of scar tissue. Overall, PRP did not significantly enhance the clinical results of hair restoration regarding the density of newly grown hair.
