TLDR A man with follicular psoriasis got better after treatment with skin cream and allergy pills.
A 31-year-old male with diabetes and obesity was diagnosed with follicular psoriasis (FP), a rare subtype of psoriasis, after presenting with itchy, scaly lesions on his axillae, elbows, and knees. Dermoscopy and histopathology were crucial in differentiating FP from other skin conditions, revealing characteristic white scales and erythematous areas with red dots around hair follicles, and distended follicular infundibula with parakeratotic scales, respectively. Treatment with topical mometasone furoate and oral levocetirizine resulted in complete resolution within a month. The case underscores the importance of dermoscopy in diagnosing FP, which may involve immune cells or keratin 17 in hair follicles, and highlights the need for further studies to fully understand this condition.
