This document reviewed the use of human follicular fluid in metabolomic analysis as a diagnostic tool and predictor of success in assisted reproductive technology (ART) for patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). PCOS affected 5% to 20% of women worldwide and was a leading cause of anovulatory infertility. Patients with PCOS undergoing ART often experienced poor to exaggerated responses, low oocyte quality, and other complications, leading to decreased success rates in various reproductive stages. The study highlighted the potential of metabolomic analysis in improving the accuracy of predicting ART outcomes by analyzing proteins and peptides in follicular fluid.

High sugar diets may worsen hair loss by increasing 5α-reductase activity and androgen levels, especially in women with PCOS. A low sugar diet might reduce scalp DHT levels, similar to finasteride, but genetics also significantly influence hair loss.

A 29-year-old woman is experiencing gradual hair thinning since age 15, suspects Androgenic Alopecia, and has tried 5% minoxidil with little success. She has purchased various hair loss treatments including minoxidil, dutasteride, finasteride, and spironolactone, but is cautious about starting them due to potential interactions with her ADHD medication.
