Efficacy, Safety, and Adverse Effects of Finasteride and Dutasteride in Treating Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: A Retrospective Cohort Study

    TLDR Finasteride and dutasteride are equally effective and safe for treating BPH.
    This study evaluated 170 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, comparing finasteride (77 patients) and dutasteride (93 patients) over one year. Both drugs significantly reduced prostate volume and improved lower urinary tract symptoms, with no significant differences in efficacy or adverse effects between them. The study concluded that finasteride and dutasteride are equally effective and safe for treating BPH over a one-year period.
