TLDR Finasteride effectively treats hirsutism in women, but more research needed for long-term results.
The study evaluated the effectiveness of finasteride in treating hirsutism in women with idiopathic hirsutism and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The treatment was administered for 6 months and resulted in a significant improvement in hirsutism scores and a decrease in serum dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and 3a-diolG levels. No significant changes were observed in other hormones. The study suggests that finasteride may be an effective treatment for hirsutism in women. However, further research is needed to evaluate the long-term effectiveness and tolerability of finasteride in treating hyperandrogenic states.
