The 2015 study demonstrated that the n-butanol extract of Allium tuberosum Rottler ex Spreng (ATRES) significantly promoted hair growth in mice by increasing the number of hair follicles and specifically stimulating the expression of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). The study identified four fractions from the n-butanol extract, with the n4 fraction showing the highest activity, although less than the whole extract. The findings suggest that ATRES could be a potential source for hair growth-promoting treatments, with n-butanol extraction being an efficient method to obtain the active components. The study used six mice in each group for the in vivo analysis.
