Fructus panax ginseng extract promotes hair regeneration in C57BL/6 mice

TLDR Panax ginseng extract helps mice grow hair.
The study conducted on 40 C57BL/6 mice found that Fructus panax ginseng (FPG) extract significantly promoted hair regeneration. The extract increased the proliferation of human hair dermal papilla cells (DPCs) in a dose and time-dependent manner, with the highest cell proliferation at 100 µg/ml. FPG extract also increased the expression of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 and decreased the expression of the pro-apoptotic protein Bax in DPCs. Topical application of FPG extract to mice led to a significant elongation of the anagen phase of the hair cycle. The study suggested that FPG extract could be a potent hair cycle modulator and might be effective for treating hair loss, although further clinical trials are necessary to identify the specific components responsible for these effects.
