TLDR Erica multiflora plant extract can help hair grow by stimulating growth-related cells and triggering hair cycle changes.
The study from 2009 demonstrated that Erica multiflora extract can promote hair growth by stimulating human dermal papilla cells (HFDPCs) in vitro and inducing the transition from the telogen to anagen phase in vivo. The in vitro assays showed increased growth and cell cycle activity of HFDPCs, while in vivo tests on 16 seven-week-old male C3H/He mice revealed hair growth and skin color changes consistent with anagen phase induction. The findings suggest that the extract's promotion of dermal papilla cell growth may regulate the hair growth cycle. The research was a collaborative effort between Tunisia and Japan, adhering to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
