TLDR Combining FUT and FUE hair transplant methods in one session provides more grafts and higher patient satisfaction.
In a study conducted from January 2010 to December 2015, a total of 54 patients with a mean age of 34.2 years underwent a combined hair restoration surgery using both Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) in a single session. The average number of grafts harvested was 3180.8, with FUT yielding an average of 1763.5 grafts and FUE yielding an average of 1417.3 grafts. The study concluded that combining FUT and FUE techniques in one session increases the total number of grafts available for transplantation, which leads to greater patient satisfaction. The combination of these techniques allows for a more significant impact on hair restoration without the need for multiple sessions.
