TLDR Wnt10b promotes hair growth, while SFRP2 inhibits it in Wanxi Angora rabbits.
This study investigated the expression of Wnt10b and SFRP2 genes in Wanxi Angora rabbits (wool type) and New Zealand white rabbits (meat type) to understand their roles in hair growth. Using Agilent’s Rabbit expression profile chip and real-time RT-PCR, researchers confirmed that Wnt10b was up-regulated and promoted hair follicle regeneration and hair growth, while SFRP2 was down-regulated during the hair growth period and up-regulated at the end, inhibiting hair growth. These findings highlighted the regulatory roles of Wnt10b and SFRP2 in the hair growth cycle of Wanxi Angora rabbits.
