TLDR Exosomes could be key in treating skin conditions and healing wounds.
Exosomes, nanosized extracellular vesicles, are emerging as promising tools in dermatology due to their role in intercellular communication and regulation of skin processes. They have shown potential in treating conditions such as wound healing, scar repair, skin aging, pigmentation, hair growth, and chronic inflammatory dermatoses. Derived from sources like mesenchymal stem cells, exosomes promote skin cell proliferation, collagen production, and hair follicle growth, while also exhibiting anti-inflammatory properties. Despite their potential, challenges in exosome isolation and characterization remain, necessitating further research to standardize techniques and explore their therapeutic applications through clinical trials.
