TLDR The combination therapy may be more effective for mild alopecia areata, especially in patients with allergies.
The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of monoammonium glycyrrhizinate/glycine/DL-methionine (MG) tablets combined with 5% carpronium chloride (CC) in treating mild alopecia areata (AA) in 31 patients. Results showed no significant differences in efficacy between the combination therapy and CC monotherapy, but both treatments significantly reduced the AA area at 8 and 12 weeks. In patients with allergic factors, the combination therapy led to significant decreases in AA areas at 8 and 12 weeks (p<0.05). No serious adverse events were reported, suggesting that MG and CC combination therapy may offer better therapeutic effects than CC alone, particularly in patients with allergic factors.
