TLDR Mangkokan leaf extract is more effective against Staphylococcus aureus than Escherichia coli.
The study tested the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract from mangkokan leaves against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus using the agar diffusion method. The extract was prepared through maceration with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol. Results showed that the extract had varying levels of effectiveness, with inhibition zones for E. coli ranging from 5.2 mm to 7.03 mm and for S. aureus from 9.66 mm to 12.42 mm, across concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%. The extract demonstrated greater antibacterial activity against S. aureus compared to E. coli.
