TLDR Estradiol-rich plasma can increase hair density faster and more effectively in male pattern baldness treatment than regular plasma.
The study "Does Estradiol Level in Platelet-Rich Plasma Improve Efficacy of Androgenic Alopecia Treatment?" involved 30 male patients and found that both autologous and estrogen-rich homologous Platelet-Rich Plasmas (PRPs) are effective in treating Androgenic Alopecia (AGA). However, the group using estrogen-rich homologous PRP (e-rhPRP) saw a higher and earlier increase in hair density compared to the group using autologous PRP (aPRP). The estrogen level in the e-rhPRP group was approximately 4 times higher than the aPRP group. The study suggests that e-rhPRP could be used in AGA treatment if a suitable donor is available. The maximum effect of e-rhPRP was seen earlier and hair densities could be increased with even only one e-rhPRP injection. However, there was no significant increase in hair density after the 3rd month, possibly due to the absence of more viable hair follicles in PRP injected areas.
