TLDR The modified oriental prescriptions help hair growth and melanin production without irritating the skin.
The study investigated the effects of enzyme-modified oriental medical prescriptions on hair growth and melanogenesis. The modified prescriptions demonstrated antioxidative properties, inhibited lipoxygenase and $5{\alpha}$-reductase activities, and promoted melanin production. A human skin irritation test showed no adverse effects, suggesting that these prescriptions could be used as functional ingredients in cosmeceutical hair care products for scalp treatment without causing skin irritation.
