Follicular Changes and Melanin Synthesis of C57BL/6 Mouse Model with Sasam Extract

This study investigated the effects of Adenophora Radix on hair growth using a C57BL/6 mouse model. The research aimed to assess its potential as a cosmetic product for preventing hair loss. The study used 6-week-old male mice and tested different concentrations of Adenophora Radix extract (1% and 5%) against ethanol and PBS controls. Results indicated that the 5% Adenophora Radix extract (AR-2) led to the highest number of hair follicles and hair shafts. Melanin pigmentation was also measured, showing significant differences among the groups, with AR-2 and AR-1 having higher pigmentation values compared to controls. The findings suggested that Adenophora Radix could promote hair growth and influence melanin synthesis, aligning with the hair growth period.
