Emulgels, combining gels and emulsions, are promising for delivering hydrophobic drugs topically due to their dual release control system and benefits like transparency and ease of application. However, the stratum corneum poses a barrier to drug penetration. To address this, penetration enhancers, including natural ones, are used to increase skin permeability and maintain stable drug levels in the blood. This review focuses on natural permeation enhancers to improve transdermal drug delivery.
