Emergency and Critical Care of Thermal Burns in Bovines

The study addressed the emergency and critical care of 34 bovines with thermal burns from fires in thatched sheds between 2007 and 2010. The burns ranged from 1st to 3rd degree, affecting 15-50% of body area. Treatment included wound cleaning, medication, fluid therapy, and innovative use of honey and banana leaves for protection. Seven animals died within a week, while the rest recovered over 2-4 months. The study highlighted the novel use of honey and banana leaves in burn management for animals in India.
