TLDR Latanoprost is more effective than minoxidil for treating alopecia areata.
This study evaluated the efficacy of topical latanoprost (0.1%) versus topical minoxidil (5%) in treating alopecia areata in 40 patients. Both treatments significantly improved dermoscopic observations of alopecia areata, with latanoprost showing greater effectiveness than minoxidil. Minor side effects included erythema and itching, with no major side effects reported. The findings suggest that both treatments are effective, with latanoprost being more effective.
