TLDR Proteoglycan replacement therapy improved hair conditions in most patients with alopecia.
The study investigated the clinical efficacy of proteoglycan replacement therapy in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and telogen effluvium (TE) in 42 patients (35 women and 7 men). After a 4-month treatment, 90.5% of patients showed positive improvements, with 87.5% of AGA patients and 100% of TE patients experiencing significant progress. Follow-up phototrichogram analysis in 18 patients revealed improvements in all hair parameters for TE patients and all but average hair diameter for AGA patients, indicating the therapy's potential effectiveness in managing these types of alopecia.
