TLDR The cosmetic product improved melasma and skin quality without causing irritation.
This study evaluated the efficacy of a cosmetic product with nanoencapsulated cysteamine in treating melasma in 43 women over 84 days. Participants were divided into two groups: one using the investigational product plus sunscreen SPF 60, and the other using only sunscreen SPF 60. Results showed significant improvements in melasma hyperpigmentation intensity, affected area, skin tone uniformity, hydration, softness, and brightness in the group using the investigational product. Additionally, there was a notable enhancement in quality of life as measured by MelasQoL. Reflective confocal microscopy indicated pigment reduction in the epidermis. No significant local intolerance was reported, suggesting the product is a promising and tolerable treatment option for melasma.
