Efficacy and Safety of an Oral Nutritional Supplement Containing Pinus Pinaster Bark Extract and Grape Seed Extract in Combination with a High SPF Sunscreen in the Treatment of Mild-to-Moderate Melasma: A Prospective Clinical Study

    The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of an oral nutritional supplement containing Pinus pinaster bark extract and grape seed extract, combined with a high SPF sunscreen, in treating mild-to-moderate melasma in 30 women. Over 84 days, significant reductions in melasma severity were observed, with mean variation percentages of -18.2% at day 28, -33.7% at day 56, and -41.4% at day 84. Both physician and patient assessments indicated increased improvement over time, with 93.3% of physicians and 96.7% of patients reporting improvement at day 84. The treatment was well-tolerated, with no significant adverse effects reported. The study concluded that the combination treatment was effective and safe for managing melasma.
