TLDR Triamcinolone regrows hair better but relapses more than anthralin.
The study compared the efficacy of intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (10 mg/ml) and topical anthralin 1.15% cream in treating alopecia areata among 37 patients receiving injections and 32 patients using the cream. Both groups were classified as Type I according to Ikeda's classification. The results indicated that triamcinolone was more effective in promoting hair regrowth compared to anthralin. However, the relapse rate was higher with triamcinolone. There was no significant difference in terms of complete hair regrowth on the lesional skin or the side effects between the two treatments.
