TLDR Triamcinolone regrows hair better but relapses more than anthralin.
The study compared the efficacy of intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (10 mg/ml) and topical anthralin 1.15% cream in treating alopecia areata among 37 patients receiving injections and 32 patients using the cream. Both groups were classified as Type I according to Ikeda's classification. The results indicated that triamcinolone was more effective in promoting hair regrowth compared to anthralin. However, the relapse rate was higher with triamcinolone. There was no significant difference in terms of complete hair regrowth on the lesional skin or the side effects between the two treatments.

The conversation discusses using a 0.03% topical Dutasteride solution for hair loss, as it may be more effective than Finasteride with fewer systemic side effects. OP plans to apply it daily for 100 days, then reduce frequency, due to past negative cognitive effects from oral treatments.

community How come topical finasteride even works at all?

      in Finasteride/Dutasteride  29 upvotes 3 weeks ago
Topical finasteride can effectively reduce scalp DHT by targeting local enzymes, despite less systemic impact compared to oral forms. Combining oral dutasteride with topical finasteride and minoxidil may enhance hair loss prevention, though evidence of its effectiveness is limited.
