TLDR Tracnil™, a mix of myo-inositol, folic acid, and vitamin D3, safely reduced acne, improved excessive hair growth, and fixed irregular periods in overweight women with PCOS.
In 2020, a study was conducted on 33 overweight women with normal hormone levels who were experiencing acne, hirsutism, and menstrual irregularities. The study evaluated the efficacy of Tracnil™, a combination of myo-inositol, folic acid, and vitamin D3. The results showed that Tracnil™ significantly reduced both inflammatory and noninflammatory acne-related lesions by 69.3% and 63% respectively within 8 weeks. It also improved hirsutism, with the mean baseline hirsutism score dropping from 10 to 6, and menstrual irregularities, with irregularity observed in 70% of the subjects at the start of the study dropping to 3% by the end. There were no adverse reactions reported, making Tracnil™ a safe nonhormonal treatment option for women presenting acne with other clinical manifestations of PCOS. However, the study had a small sample size and lacked a placebo control group, suggesting the need for a larger-scale randomized control trial.
