TLDR A small dose of Platycladus orientalis leaf extract improves raccoon dogs' growth and health, but higher doses can be harmful.
The study on Platycladus orientalis leaf extract (PLE) in raccoon dogs found that a 0.25 g/kg PLE supplement significantly improved growth performance, fur quality, and feed efficiency, while also positively altering intestinal microbiota by reducing harmful bacteria like Prevotella copri. However, higher doses (0.50 g/kg and 1.00 g/kg) were associated with potential health risks, including liver damage and weakened heart function. Thus, while 0.25 g/kg PLE is beneficial, caution is needed with higher dosages.
