TLDR The lotion with N793 strain significantly increased hair density and reduced hair loss safely.
A non-blind single-group study investigated the effects of applying a lotion containing Lactiplantibacillus plantarum subsp. plantarum N793 (N793 strain) on the hair of 12 Japanese men and women suffering from hair thinning over 24 weeks. The results showed a significant increase in hair density and non-vellus hair density, and a reduction in hair loss after 24 weeks of application. Participants reported significant improvements in hair thickness, volume, and hairline/parting areas. Safety evaluations, including a human patch test, indicated no safety issues, suggesting that the N793 strain lotion is effective and safe for improving hair thinning.
