The Effectiveness of Oral Mini-Pulse Methylprednisolone in the Treatment of Alopecia Areata in Vietnam

    TLDR Oral mini-pulse methylprednisolone is an effective and safe treatment for alopecia areata.
    The study evaluated the effectiveness of oral mini-pulse methylprednisolone in treating alopecia areata in Vietnam. Patients took 16 mg of methylprednisolone orally for 2 consecutive days each week. After 3 months, 40% of patients recovered well, and 55.6% recovered fairly. After 6 months, 82.2% recovered well, and 17.8% recovered fairly. No adverse events were detected, and the recurrence rate was low at 2.2%. The study concluded that oral mini-pulse methylprednisolone therapy was an effective and safe treatment option for alopecia areata with a short treatment duration.
