TLDR All stray cats in the area have ectoparasite infestations.
A study conducted on 20 stray cats (12 males and 8 females) at the IPB Taman Kencana Campus in Bogor revealed a 100% ectoparasite infestation rate. The infestations included 90% with Ctenocephalides felis fleas, 55% with Otodectes cynotis mites, and 10% with Sarcoptes scabiei mites. The high prevalence of flea infestation, attributed to direct contact among cats, leads to health issues such as anemia, low body condition score, thinness, stress, itching, dull hair, and baldness. The study concludes that stray cats in this area experience a high degree of ectoparasite infestation.
