TLDR Gel 2, with shark liver and borage oil, is effective for reducing inflammation and healing wounds.
This study explores the eco-friendly extraction and formulation of emulgels using Black Sea shark liver oil, with and without borage oil, for anti-inflammatory and wound healing dermatocosmetic applications. Two formulations were tested on 60 male Wistar rats for anti-inflammatory effects and 40 for wound healing. Gel 2, containing both shark liver oil and borage oil, demonstrated superior performance in reducing edema and accelerating wound closure compared to Gel 1 and a reference product, Cicatrizin®. The study highlights the potential of these natural lipid-based emulgels as effective and sustainable alternatives for treating inflammatory skin conditions and promoting tissue regeneration.
