The study developed a novel ECM patch combining human fibroblast-derived matrix (hFDM) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogel, which demonstrated excellent cytocompatibility with human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs). The hMSC-incorporated hFDM/PVA patch significantly improved cell migration in vitro and accelerated wound closure in a mouse full-thickness wound model compared to other interventions. Histological analysis showed advanced tissue regeneration, including nearly normal epidermis thickness, hair follicle regeneration, mature collagen deposition, and neovascularization. The study concluded that the engineered ECM patch had strong regenerative potential for advanced wound healing.
