TLDR Men with early-onset hair loss have a higher risk of metabolic syndrome.
The study investigated the association between early-onset androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and metabolic syndrome in Thai men, involving 80 male subjects, 40 with early-onset AGA and 40 controls. It found that men with early-onset AGA had a 3.48-fold higher risk of developing metabolic syndrome compared to the control group. However, there was no relationship between the severity of AGA and metabolic syndrome. The study suggested that early detection of metabolic syndrome in this population could help prevent cardiovascular diseases.
