TLDR Dutasteride works better than finasteride for hair loss and has mild, reversible side effects.
Compared to finasteride, oral dutasteride shows better efficacy and similar tolerability for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA), with most adverse events being mild and reversible. Mesotherapy with dutasteride can reduce systemic adverse effects, though standardized protocols and large-scale clinical trials are lacking. Microneedling combined with dutasteride solution also demonstrates unique efficacy, and future developments in liposome or nanoparticle formulations of dutasteride may offer optimized topical treatments.
