TLDR Laser Doppler imaging can predict how well minoxidil will work for female hair loss.
The study demonstrated that laser Doppler imaging could predict the response to topical minoxidil in treating female pattern hair loss. Researchers found a strong correlation (r=1.0) between scalp blood perfusion changes within 60 minutes of minoxidil application and sulfotransferase enzyme activity in plucked hair follicles. This suggested that laser Doppler imaging could serve as a rapid, non-invasive diagnostic test to predict minoxidil response, potentially improving treatment outcomes for patients.
