TLDR A DNA aptamer helps promote hair growth by enhancing a key cell growth signal in hair follicle cells.
The study demonstrates that a DNA aptamer (WD-aptamer) can enhance Wnt/β-catenin signaling in human hair follicle dermal papilla cells (HFDPCs) by blocking the negative regulation mediated by CXXC5. This results in a significant increase in cell proliferation, with a 123.98% increase at a 5 μM concentration compared to the control. The findings indicate that WD-aptamer has potential as a therapeutic agent for hair regrowth by promoting dermal papilla cell activity and hair follicle development.
