TLDR The junction of the inner and outer prepuce with good blood flow is ideal for surgical flaps.
The study investigated the distribution of preputial vessels in rat models of congenital hypospadias using micro-computerized tomography. It found that the severity of hypospadias correlated with distinct vascular patterns, with severe cases showing a net-like structure and poor blood circulation, leading to higher postoperative complications. The research suggested that patients with severe hypospadias and poor vascular structures should undergo two-stage surgery to reduce complications, while those with sufficient blood supply could achieve satisfactory results with single-stage surgery. This study provided valuable insights into the anatomical variations associated with different degrees of hypospadias, which could inform surgical approaches and improve outcomes.
