TLDR The junction of the inner and outer prepuce with good blood flow is best for vascular pedicle flaps.
The study utilized micro-computerized tomography (micro-CT) to analyze the distribution of preputial vessels in rat models with varying severities of congenital hypospadias. Pregnant rats were exposed to finasteride, and the offspring were categorized into normal, mild, and severe hypospadias groups. Six months post-birth, preputial blood vessels were examined using vascular perfusion and micro-CT imaging. Results indicated that normal and mild hypospadias groups had similar vascular structures, with a ring-like vessel formation at the junction of the inner and outer prepuce. In the severe hypospadias group, five rats had sufficient blood circulation with similar ring-like vessels, while six had insufficient circulation with limited capillary supply. The study concluded that the junction of the inner and outer prepuce with abundant blood circulation was ideal for vascular pedicle flaps, retaining the original blood supply effectively.
