TLDR Hair transplantation can lead to rare scalp complications, requiring careful follow-up and treatment.
A 28-year-old male developed dissecting cellulitis of the scalp (DCS) following hair transplantation using the follicular unit extraction (FUE) technique. Initially presenting with inflammatory nodules and purulent discharge, the condition persisted despite various treatments. Upon diagnosis, the patient was treated with rifampicin and clindamycin, followed by isotretinoin, achieving remission. This case highlights the potential for rare complications like DCS after hair transplantation, suggesting that microbial or inflammatory changes post-surgery may trigger such conditions. The study emphasizes the importance of thorough documentation and follow-up in managing these complications.
