TLDR Unhealthy diets are linked to higher BMI in young women with PCOS.
This study investigated the relationship between dietary habits, age, and body mass index (BMI) among 80 women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and control participants in Coimbatore, India. The findings indicated a significant correlation between unhealthy dietary patterns and higher BMI, particularly in the 19-24 age group, with an average BMI of 31.6 kg/m². The study highlighted the association between lifestyle factors, such as diet and physical activity, and the presence of PCOS symptoms like hirsutism. The results underscored the need for increased awareness about the impact of lifestyle choices on hormonal and metabolic health in women with PCOS.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.

A 30-year-old female with PCOS and male pattern baldness is frustrated with her endocrinologist's recommendation of only Spironolactone and minoxidil, feeling that dutasteride, finasteride, and progesterone would be more effective. Other users suggest various online sources for treatments, warn against self-medicating due to potential risks, and recommend seeking a specialized endocrinologist or considering additional treatments like Inositol, Berberine, and dermaneedling.
