TLDR Women with PCOS often have depression and anxiety, so they should be checked for these issues.
This study investigated the prevalence of depression and anxiety among 260 women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in Thailand, finding rates of 3.85% for depression and 11.92% for anxiety. Factors linked to depression included abdominal obesity, poor mental well-being, and snoring, while anxiety was associated with having children, alcohol consumption, poor mental well-being, and hirsutism. The study highlights the importance of mental health screening in women with PCOS, particularly those with poor mental well-being, to improve their quality of life. Despite its strengths, the study's limitations include selection and recall bias, lack of biomarker analysis, and being conducted at a single center, suggesting the need for multicenter research for broader applicability.
