Dehydrogenase, Cortisol, Dopamine, Zinc, and Vitamin D3 in Iraqi Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

TLDR PCOS patients have higher LDH and lower cortisol, dopamine, zinc, and vitamin D3, which may contribute to their symptoms and obesity.
The study examined 138 women, including 90 with PCOS and 48 healthy controls, and found that PCOS patients had higher levels of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and lower levels of cortisol, dopamine, zinc, and vitamin D3 compared to controls. These biochemical differences may contribute to the pathogenesis of PCOS, which is associated with symptoms like irregular menstruation and excessive hair growth. The study also noted a higher prevalence of obesity in PCOS patients, suggesting that these biochemical and anthropometric differences could play a role in the condition's pathophysiology and related reproductive challenges.
