TLDR Combining D-004 and finasteride is more effective at reducing prostate enlargement than using either alone.
This study investigated the effects of combined therapy with D-004 and finasteride on testosterone-induced prostate hyperplasia in rats. The study involved 60 rats divided into groups to test the dose-effect relationship of finasteride and the interaction between D-004 and finasteride. Finasteride alone significantly inhibited prostate growth in a dose-dependent manner, with reductions ranging from 45.8% to 100%. The combined therapy of D-004 (200 mg/kg) and finasteride (0.5 mg/kg) resulted in a 63.7% inhibition of prostate growth, which was significantly more effective than either monotherapy alone, where D-004 and finasteride inhibited prostate weight increase by 32.9% and 30.6%, respectively. The study concluded that the combined therapy provided additional benefits in preventing prostate enlargement compared to individual treatments.
